Description

Windmill Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 17th century and early 18th century. It features a timber frame with plaster and a half-hipped peg tile roof, along with an off-centre red brick ridge stack. At the rear, there is a two-storey red brick extension from the early 19th century, which has a hipped peg tile roof and a lean-to on the east side with a continuous roof. The front of the farmhouse has a range of three double-hung sash windows with small square panes and an early 19th-century door surround that includes a flat hood supported by scroll brackets and a rectangular fanlight. The rear extension also has double-hung sash windows, but these have segmental arched brick heads on the ground floor. The interior has been somewhat altered, but it retains heavy bridging joists with stop chamfers exposed, and the roof features a framed side purlin design. The original stack was of the 'tunnel through' type but has been significantly rebuilt at ground floor level. There is some exposed framing in the rear service block.
