Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It is constructed from timber framing and plaster, topped with a steeply pitched slate roof and features a square red brick ridge stack. The building has a three-unit plan with rear outshuts and is one storey with an attic. There are two casement windows with glazing bars on both the first and ground floors.
To the east, there is a two-storey extension from the late 18th century or early 19th century, which has two bays. This extension is made of painted red brick and has a slate roof with parapet gables and an end stack, as well as a dentil brick eaves course. It contains two original three-light leaded casement windows on the first floor and one similar window on the ground floor in a pent-roofed extension to the right of the main entrance.
The main entrance features a reeded wooden doorcase and a panelled door, which is approached by stone steps. Inside, the farmhouse includes an inglenook hearth, a boxed staircase, and one early wooden mullioned window in the rear wall, along with exposed timber framing. The wall plates and middle rails extend into the wall of the 16th-century tithe barn located to the west.
