Description
Dame Anna's Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 16th century and possibly earlier. It is an open hall house constructed with timber framing and plaster, featuring a red brick facade and a red plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and a three-window range, with vertical sliding sashes that include glazing bars, side-lights, and leaded casements at the east end on the first floor. The ground floor has two similar sashes and one three-light casement.
There is a two-storey, 16th-century jettied and gabled porch that includes a moulded oak doorcase inside. A red brick lean-to and a single-storey extension have been added. A late 16th-century red brick concertina chimney stack has also been inserted. Inside, the original frame is preserved, including a service passage at the east end and a 16th-century inserted first floor in the hall. The farmhouse is situated on a moated site.
