Description

Bentalls Cottages is a timber-framed building dated 1615, featuring one storey and attics, with a hipped and ridged roof covered in machined tiles. The windows have been replaced with modern casements, and the exterior elevations are rendered. The chimney stacks have been rebuilt. Inside, the building showcases two types of framing: the heavy original structure includes an open hall, while the lateral division features lighter oak framing from around 1615. Notably, the lodged floor-joists of one original storeyed end remain in place at the west end.
