Description

Rose Cottage is a 18th-century building located on Shop Lane in East Mersea. It features a frontage of red brick laid in Flemish bond, topped with a three-course dentilled eaves cornice. The roof is ridged and gabled, covered with peg tiles. The central front door is set within a later porch, with wooden casements on either side, all positioned under brick arches. There are matching casements on the first storey beneath the eaves cornice. A square plan red brick chimney stack is located at the south-east gable, and there is a red brick lean-to at the rear, which is contemporary with the main structure. Additionally, there is a red brick chimney at the north-west end of the building.
