Description

The Old Rectory is an early 19th-century building, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. Originally the vicarage for Marks Tey, it is a three-bay, two-storey structure with a hipped, slate-clad roof and two gault brick chimney stacks supported by gault consoles. The building features pilastered returns and originally had a rectangular ground plan, with the central bay projecting. The first storey has three sash windows, each with a segmental keystone, and a round-headed window in the central position. The ground storey has flat-topped, semi-hexagonal bay windows on either side of the front door, which is sheltered by a stone or stucco hood supported on square pilasters. The building is included on the list for its group value.
