Description
The barn located to the north-west of Marks Tey Hall dates from the 17th century. It is constructed of red brick featuring blue-glazed headers on the east elevation and consists of three bays and two storeys. The barn has a ridged peg-tiled roof that is flanked by two brick-coped gables, with the northern gable displaying the remnants of a finial. The eaves are corbelled, and there are two diagonal chimney shafts of a later date positioned centrally on the west slope of the roof. The first floor is supported by three binding joists, and the rafters are mostly original. There is one blocked window in the south gable and an open window in the north gable, along with three casements on the east side of the first storey, which is situated above a central door flanked by additional casements. The east first storey features blue-glazed headers arranged in diaper patterns.
