Description

2, High Street is a former bank built in 1905, designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield. The building is three storeys high with attics. It is constructed of red brick and has a five-window front. The upper-storey windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set within flush cased frames. The ground-floor windows have brick rustications. Brick pilasters divide the upper-storey windows, and these pilasters have stone Ionic capitals supporting bold consoles which carry an eaves cornice. There are two doorways, one round-arched with rustications and an open pediment, and the other with a stone architrave, a keystone, and a pediment. The roof is slate-covered, with five dormers, alternating between semi-circular and triangular pediments.
