Description

This is an early 19th century brick house, Westeria, located on the east side of The Street, Little Waltham. The front of the house is constructed of gault brick, with a panelled parapet. Above the central doorway are the initials "S P" and the date 1811. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window front. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set in plain reveals and topped with stuccoed flat arches. The ground floor windows are set within segmental arched recesses with stuccoed arches. A raised stucco band separates the ground and first floors. The central entrance features a six-panel door with a semi-circular fanlight, set within a double, semi-circular arched recess. The front of the house is protected by iron spearhead railings. Westeria is part of a group that includes numbers 100 to 116 (even) and numbers 2 to 6 (even), known as Campen's Cottages, and the Alcove, Brook Hill.
