Description

A pair of early 19th century cottages, now combined into a single house, stands on the north side of The Street in Hatfield Peverel. The building is constructed of gault brick laid in a Flemish bond, with a slate roof. It has a double pile plan, facing southeast, and contains two internal chimney stacks positioned symmetrically. The house is two storeys high with a three-window front. It features a range of early 19th century sash windows, twelve panes to each light. The ground-floor window on the left has a semi-circular head and an upper sash. There are two doorways; one has been blocked up, while the remaining one has a six-panel door. A glazed canopy runs along the front of the house, with the central section enclosed in a 20th-century glazed porch. The roof is hipped and has a shallow pitch.
