Description

Fir Tree Cottages is a house dating from the early 18th century, which was extended in the late 18th or early 19th century to create a terrace of three cottages. The building is timber framed, with a facade of red brick laid in Flemish bond, and it is plastered at the rear. The extensions are also of red brick in Flemish bond and the roof is covered with handmade red clay tiles.

The structure has three bays facing southeast, featuring a central stack, with a short extension to the right and a longer extension to the left. There are 19th-century brick extensions at the rear, which are roofed with a mix of plain tiles, red clay pantiles, red clay 'Roman' tiles, and slate. The building is two storeys high.

No. 3, on the left, has a one-window range of 19th-century sashes and a four-panel door with glazed upper panes. No. 2, the middle cottage, features a two-window range of 19th-century sashes and a four-panel door set in a 19th-century trellised porch, with a recessed panel above the door. No. 1, on the right, has a one-window range of 19th-century sashes and a door located in the right return. There is a dentilled course below the eaves of Nos. 2 and 1 only.

At the first floor level, there are three early 19th-century sashes with 12 lights, located in the left return, right return, and rear of No. 3. The interior of No. 2 features chamfered axial beams and a wood-burning hearth facing left, which has a chamfered lintel with lamb's tongue stops, reduced for a 19th-century coal grate.
