Description
This barn, located 30 metres east of Arnold's Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, standing on a plinth of red brick laid in English bond, and is topped with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The barn has nine bays arranged from west-northwest to east-southeast, with two midstreys on the south-southwest side, both of which are blocked and have no openings. The north-northeast side features three 19th-century windows with 20, 20, and 9 fixed lights, two pairs of large doors, and a high loading door. Inside, the structure has unjowled posts, primary straight bracing, and bolted handing knees attached to straight tie-beams. The frame is constructed entirely from high-quality hardwood. A lean-to on the south-southwest side has been demolished.
