TL 82 NW GREENSTEAD GREEN AND HALSTEAD RURAL 5/137 Barn 70 metres south 7.8.52 of Stanstead Hall

Barn. C15 and C19. Timber framed, weatherboarded, roofed with handmade red plain tiles. Aligned E-W, of 2 builds. Originally of 8 bays and aisled on the N only, now partly aisled to the S also. One gabled midstrey to N, 2 to the S. The original build has jowled posts, closely-spaced tiebeams, heavy arched bracing in the N aisle wall, and remnants of long internal bracing in the former S wall. Crownpost roof with chamfered posts and axial bracing, rebuilt. The C19 W extension has unjowled posts and primary straight bracing. RCHM 1.
