Description
The Old School and School House is a building dating from 1844, designed by George Gilbert Scott. It features a combination of flint cobbles with stone and gault brick dressings, topped with plain tile roofs that have gabled ends. The structure includes flint and brick axial and lateral stacks, as well as a flint, brick, and stone bellcote on the ridge. The building has a T-shaped plan, with a long range of school rooms on the right and a central entrance porch leading to the master's house in a crosswing on the left.
The exterior showcases a two-storey master's house in the gabled crosswing on the left, which has sash windows with margin panes and thick central glazing bars, all set within chamfered stone architraves. The long single-storey school range on the right has four windows, featuring tall two-light stone mullions with small lozenge-shaped panes. There is a small gabled wooden porch to the left of the centre and a lean-to porch at the angle on the left. A gabled bellcote with a pointed arch sits on the ridge. At the rear, the schoolroom range has four-pane sashes and a gabled dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
