Description

Gladfen Hall Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 16th century and has been altered in the 19th century. It is timber framed, plastered, and has a roof made of handmade red plain tiles. The main range from the 16th century faces west and has a rear stack at the right end. There is a 17th-century rear wing behind the left end, featuring an internal stack at the junction, another stack to the left, and a single-storey lean-to extension beyond it, along with another lean-to extension at the rear. A 17th-century stair tower is located in the rear right angle, accompanied by a lean-to extension to its right, which is roofed with slate.

The farmhouse has two storeys. On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century sash windows with 28 lights and margin glazing bars. The first floor features two similar sash windows and one central 19th-century sash window with 16 lights. The central entrance has an early 19th-century six-panel door flanked by fluted Tuscan half-columns and topped with a flat hood. The right rear stack has two octagonal shafts. Some 16th-century floor framing is exposed inside. The early 19th-century staircase, located in the 17th-century stair tower, has stick balusters. Additionally, there is an 18th-century corner cupboard with pilasters and a semi-domed recess.
