Description
Numbers 1 and 2 Thatched Cottages and St. Crispins is a house dating from the late 15th century to early 16th century, with alterations made in the 16th and 19th centuries. It is now divided into three cottages. The building is timber framed and plastered, featuring some imitation framing, with a thatched roof. It is aligned east-west and has a southern aspect. A central chimney stack was added in the 16th century, along with 19th-century external chimney stacks at each end. There is a single-storey lean-to extension that runs the full length of the rear, dating from the 19th or 20th century. The building has two storeys and includes three 20th-century doors, two of which are half-glazed. On the ground floor, there are four 19th-century horizontally-sliding sash windows with 24 lights, and five 20th-century casement windows on the first floor. The eastern half, known as St. Crispins, features imitation framing on the front elevation. The roof has side purlins.
