Description

This is a range of houses dating from the 17th to 18th centuries, originally timber-framed and plastered. Number 42 was rebuilt in the 19th century using red brick and has a gabled front. Numbers 44 to 48 are single-storey with attics. Numbers 42 to 46 have double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, while number 48 has a 20th-century shop front and casement windows. The roofs are tiled and include five flat-headed dormers.

Numbers 42 to 48 form a group with number 7 (the Woolpack Inn) and with numbers 1 and 3, numbers 22 to 40 (even), number 18 and the Smithy, numbers 20 to 30 (even), the Parish Church of St Nicholas, and the Vicarage at Chippinghill.
