Description
The Woolpack Inn is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered building located on Church Street. It has been largely altered, extended, and refronted in the 18th century, featuring a red brick front with a parapet (now plastered) and a cornice. The inn is two storeys high and has a three-window range, with some double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars in plain reveals, as well as some 20th-century casements. The windows are topped with segmental brick arches. One doorway features a wooden doorcase with panelled reveals, fluted pilasters, and an open pediment. The roof is tiled, and the interior retains some exposed timber framing. The Woolpack Inn forms a group with several nearby buildings, including Nos 1 and 3, Nos 22 to 48 (even), No 18 and the Smithy, Nos 20 to 30 (even), the Parish Church of St Nicholas, and the Vicarage, Chippinghill.
