Description
The Vicarage is an 18th-century red brick house, rectangular in shape, with a single-storey 20th-century extension on the west front. The building has two storeys. The west front features a central six-panel door set within a wooden doorcase, which is topped by a projecting porch supported by plain Tuscan columns and an open pediment. Above the door is a central semi-circular brick arched window with a stucco keystone. The north front has five windows, the south front has three windows positioned between slightly projecting chimney stacks, and the east front has five windows, one of which is blocked. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, primarily in plain reveals, although the north front windows have painted reveals. The roof is hipped and tiled.
The Vicarage is part of a group that includes No 18 and Smithy, Nos 20 to 30 (even), the Parish Church of St Nicholas, No 35 (Barnardiston), Nos 43 to 55 (odd), and No 2 (White Horse Public House), as well as Nos 4 and 6 Church Street. It also forms a group with No 7 (Woolpack Inn) and Nos 22 to 48 (even) Church Street.
