Description

Bailey Hill Farmhouse is a house from the mid-17th century that has been altered in the 20th century. It is timber framed and plastered, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The main part of the house consists of four bays and is aligned approximately northeast to southwest, with the main aspect facing northwest. There is an axial chimney stack located in the second bay from the southwest end. At the northeast end, there is a rear service wing that features an end chimney stack. A single-storey 20th-century extension, roofed with red clay corrugated tiles, extends beyond this wing. A 20th-century tiled gabled porch is located at the northeast side of the house.

The farmhouse has two storeys with attics. The northwest elevation includes a centrally located 19th-century four-panel door set within a shallow pedimented doorcase from the 18th century. There are four 20th-century double-hung sash windows with six lights on each floor, arranged asymmetrically. A pentice board is present on the northeast gable.

Inside, the main range features axial beams on both floors, and in the service wing above the ground floor, all of which are plain-chamfered with lamb's tongue stops. The exposed joists have a vertical section and are unchamfered. The walls have primary straight bracing that is plastered over. The hearths on both floors face southwest and have rounded inside corners.
