Description
The Old Rectory is a rectory from the late 18th century to early 19th century, now functioning as a private house. The building features a combination of stucco and red brick in English bond, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. It is oriented approximately northeast-southwest and has a northwest aspect, with two axial chimney stacks symmetrically placed. The front elevation is stuccoed to resemble stone blocks and is likely built on a timber-framed structure. The rear elevation is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring penny joints and gauged brick arches. The front windows include some crown glass and a significant amount of early sheet glass, with two double-hung sash windows containing 24 lights each. On the first floor, there is a central double-hung sash window with 15 lights, flanked by two windows with 20 lights each. The building has a dentilled cornice, a parapet, and a hipped roof. The central entrance features a half-glazed door with a fanlight that has intersected tracery. An elaborate early 19th-century trellised porch, mostly latticed and inspired by Chinese geometrical designs near the base, has a flat roof with a dentilled cornice. This porch is particularly valuable as a rare survival, likely dating from around 1815, with the hood possibly being older.
