6/196 Barn approx. 40 metres south-east of Valley Farmhouse

Barn. C18. Timber framed, weatherboarded and plastered on high plinth of red brick in Flemish bond, on base wall of pebble rubble, roofed with corrugated asbestos. 5 bays aligned approx. NW-SE with midstrey to NE. Roof half-hipped at SE end and midstrey. Hardwood frame, jointed and pegged. Face-halved and bladed scarfs in wallplates. Roof originally without tiebeams, with bolted knees bracing wallposts to principal rafters, and clasped purlins, reinforced later by inserted tiebeams. The height of the plinth varies from 1 to 1.50 metres owing to the gradient of the site.
