Description
The Wall of Shalford Hall is a structure dating from the 17th century and early 18th century. It is made of red brick and features a half-round moulded coping. This wall encloses an irregular quadrilateral garden located southeast of the 20th-century Shalford Hall. The wall begins approximately 25 meters southeast of Shalford Hall and extends 10 meters to the northeast, 78 meters to the southeast, 70 meters to the southwest, 72 meters to the northwest, 12 meters to the northeast, and 24 meters to the northwest. The height of the wall is mostly between 2 and 4 meters on the outside, with the ground level raised on the inside. The wall is primarily constructed in English bond, while the northeast wall is made in Flemish bond with diaper designs in flared headers forming diamonds. The southwest wall includes some packing courses of red clay tiles. There are blocked wickets in both the northeast and southwest walls. Additionally, a 13-meter gap in the southeast wall has been closed using Flemish bond. Shalford Hall, which dates from the late 16th century and 17th century, was recorded by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England but was severely damaged during the Second World War and was demolished before 1960.
