Description

Pages is a house dating from around 1590, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is timber framed, plastered, and has a roof covered with handmade red clay tiles. The house has four bays facing northeast, with an axial stack located in the second bay from the left, which forms a lobby entrance. There is a crosswing at the right end with a stack at the junction. Single-storey extensions are present at and behind the left end. The building is two storeys high.

On the ground floor, there is one mid-19th century sash window with six lights, two 20th century casements, and a 20th century square bay window. A 20th century door features a bracketed hood. The eaves at the front and right return have sprockets. The main stack has grouped diagonal shafts. The interior includes chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, and chamfered joists of horizontal section also with lamb's tongue stops. The left bay has two unglazed windows with diamond mortices on the ground floor and two diamond mullions on the first floor. There are no shutter grooves or rebates, and the other windows were glazed from the outset. A large wood-burning hearth has a mantel beam that is chamfered with lamb's tongue stops. The roof features clasped purlins with arched wind bracing. There are no visible dating features in the crosswing.
