Description

Horseshoes is a house that dates from the 18th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with handmade red clay tiles. The house has four bays facing southwest, featuring an axial stack located one bay from the left end and a 20th-century external stack at the right end. There is a two-storey extension from the 19th century behind the left end, along with a single-storey extension beyond it, both covered with slate roofs. Additionally, there is a 20th-century single-storey lean-to extension in the rear angle. The building stands at two storeys. On the ground floor, there is one early 19th-century sash window with 20 lights, one similar 20th-century sash, one late 19th-century sash with 16 lights, and one 20th-century casement window. The first floor features three late 19th-century sashes, each with 16 lights, and there is a 20th-century door. A tunnel has been cut through the axial stack during a 19th-century alteration to create a through entrance hall; the larger hearth to the right is blocked and plastered over. The wallplates show face-halved and bladed scarfs. The interior is mainly plastered.
