Description
The barn and farm complex of Old Hall Farm dates from the early 19th century. The barn features lower walls made of flint rubble and red brick, with upper walls that are weatherboarded. Other buildings in the complex are constructed from flint rubble and red brick as well. The roofs are primarily slate, with some sections covered in red clay pantiles and corrugated iron.
The barn itself consists of 10 bays and is aligned northeast to southwest, with two midstreys on the northwest side and three wings on the southeast side, creating an E-plan layout. The other buildings complete an open square, with entrances located to the northeast and southwest. The central wing on the eastern side serves as a double-sided shelter shed with a spine wall. Additional structures include stables, a dairy, a granary, and pighouses. The eastern building, which has a pantiled roof, has been converted into a garage. All roofs across the complex are hipped and have a low pitch. The barn features bolted knees at the junctions of posts and principal rafters, as well as half-height collars.
