Description

Mill Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century and extensions added in the 20th century. It is timber framed and plastered, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The house consists of three bays arranged approximately northeast to southwest, featuring an axial chimney stack in the northeast bay and an external chimney stack at the southwest end. There is a flat-roofed single-storey extension to the northwest and a large two-storey extension to the northeast, both from the 20th century. The building is single storey with attics.

On the southeast elevation, there is a French window, a glazed gabled porch, and three metal casement windows, all of which are from the 20th century. The interior includes jowled posts, heavy studding, and two plain-chamfered axial beams. In the southwest bay, the joists are of horizontal section and are original. The middle bay features joists of large vertical section on pegged clamps, indicating an inserted floor from the 17th century. The southeast wall plate has an edge-halved and bridled scarf joint. A tie beam between the southwest and middle bays has been severed to create a doorway. The late 16th-century chimney stack has had some brickwork renewed at the ground floor level, and the roof is fully plastered on the interior.
