Description
This is a terrace of houses built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries in Witham. The houses are constructed of red brick with a parapet and a stuccoed cornice, topped by a slate roof. Nos. 3-11 have a mansard roof, and there are eight brick chimney stacks. The terrace is two storeys high with attics and basements, and features a 3-4-4-3 window arrangement. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set in plain reveals. Most of the houses have four-panel doors with semi-circular headed fanlights, accessed by flights of stone steps. Nos. 7-9 and 11-13 have paired doorcases under elliptical arches. Dormers are visible on Nos. 3-11. The basement areas are protected by iron spearhead railings. A door is located on the side elevation of No. 3, and No. 17 has a single window bay at the end of the terrace; the remainder of No. 17 is a mid-19th century building and is not included in the listing.
