Description
This is a barn located approximately 30 meters southeast of Hoses Farmhouse, dating from around 1600 and altered in the 20th century. It has been converted into a garage and games room. The barn is timber framed, weatherboarded, and thatched with Norfolk reed. It consists of four bays aligned east to west, featuring a midstrey to the north of the second bay from the west end, and an aisle on the south side only. There are two eyebrow dormers on the south side. The western bay has been floored to create a garage with doors facing south, and there is a room above it. Architectural details include arched braces to the arcade plate, face-halved and bladed scarfs, modern straight braces to the tiebeams, a reversed assembly in the aisle, and a clasped purlin roof with curved wind bracing. Additionally, three posts are re-used from a barn dating from the 13th or 14th century, featuring oblique trenches for passing braces.
