Description
This barn, located approximately 50 metres south-west of Lopham's Farmhouse, dates from around 1600. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof covered in corrugated iron. The barn consists of five bays aligned roughly north-south, featuring an aisle to the east and a later midstrey also to the east. Notable architectural details include jowled posts, arched braces connecting the tiebeams and arcade plate, and primary curved bracing in the walls with heavy studding. The arcade plate has face-halved and bladed scarfs. The roof is a clasped purlin design, originally half-hipped but now gabled. The barn is in unusually good condition for its age.
