Description

Hampers Farmhouse is a house dating from the 15th century or earlier, with later alterations. It has red-tiled roofs and two red brick chimney stacks. The house is arranged in an H-shape, with jettied, two-storey crosswings projecting to the right and left. A central hall is single-storey in height with attics containing gabled dormers. The window arrangement is 1:1:1, featuring various small-paned casements and sliding sashes. A circular window is located in the gable of the left crosswing. The central hall has a gabled trellis porch and a plank and muntin door. Inside the hall, a floor has been inserted and there’s a reputed central tie beam with a four-armed crown post. The east wing contains three braced tie beams.
