Description
This barn, located approximately 30 meters northeast of Fambridge Hall, dates from the 14th to 15th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and is weatherboarded, featuring some areas of plaster. The barn has a brick plinth with two arched openings to the right of the double doors, which likely served as former dog kennels, and there is a small roofed granary in the aisle above. The brickwork is laid in English bond. The roof is hipped and covered with red plain tiles, and it includes gablets. There is a gabled rear midstrey, a lean-to of the same construction on the left return, and another lean-to at the front right. The barn has four large bays and features halved wall bracing, passing braces to the aisles, a two-armed crown post roof, and arched braces to the tie beams and top plates. It is considered a good example of its type.
