Description
Fambridge Hall is a house dating from the 18th century, with earlier rear wings and a 19th-century brick rear wing. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with red plain tiled roofs and features two rear red brick chimney stacks. The building has two storeys, attics, and a large cellar likely from the 18th and 19th centuries. There are red tiled single storey extensions to the right and left at the rear. The front has a five-window range of 18th-century small paned vertically sliding sashes in moulded surrounds, except for the first-floor centre which has a matching window with a round head. The central entrance features a two-panel, four-light door and a 20th-century pedimented porch with fluted columns. A raised step with a cellar ventilator is located at the rear. Inside, notable features include a central open dogleg staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail that continues to the landing. The dining room and lounge fireplaces have marble surrounds with mouldings, and there are moulded architraves and wainscots. The cellar includes English bond brickwork and klompje brick floors.
