Description

The Willows is a house dating from the late 16th century, with a 20th-century extension. It features a timber frame that is plastered in parts, with some exposed framing, and is topped with handmade red clay tiles. The house has three bays facing east and includes a central chimney stack, following a lobby-entrance plan. A two-storey rear extension has been added to the right end, along with a single-storey extension in the rear angle. A large porch was also added in the 20th century.

The building stands two storeys high and has a two-window range of 20th-century casements, with a 20th-century door located at the front of the porch. The chimney shafts have been rebuilt in the 20th century. Inside, there are jowled posts, heavy studding that is exposed, and straight corner bracing that is trenched inside the studs. The left lower room features a chamfered beam with lamb's tongue stops, and the joists are plastered to the soffits. The right lower room also has a chamfered beam with lamb's tongue stops, along with exposed plain joists of large section and a large wood-burning brick hearth. The roof is constructed with clasped purlins and arched collars.
