Description

Nos. 1 and 2 on Bell Lane in Great Bardfield are a block of cottages dating from the late 18th century. The cottages are timber framed and plastered, with a thatched roof. They have a rectangular plan facing southwest, with a rear extension. The building is one storey high with attics, featuring one axial stack and one internal stack at the left end.

On the ground floor, there are three 20th-century casements and one 19th-century horizontally sliding sash window with 18 lights. The first floor has five 19th-century horizontally sliding sash windows with 8 lights, set in shallow slated dormers. There is also one 19th-century half-glazed door and one blocked doorway. The roof is gambrel in style.
