Description
Walnut Tree House, now known as The Corn Dolly Restaurant, is a house that dates back to the 17th century and was altered in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with plaster and some weatherboarding on the sides, topped with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building has a square plan and includes an internal stack on the right side. It stands two storeys tall with attics.
On the left side, there is a 19th-century shopfront that has two bays projecting from the house, rounded at the edges, and features central double glazed doors. To the right, there is a 20th-century glazed door with a dentilled cornice supported by scrolled brackets, along with an early 19th-century sash window with 20 lights and a cornice above it. The first floor has three 18th-century sash windows, each with 12 lights. In the attic, there are two 18th-century sash windows set in lean-to dormers. A plaster band runs along the first floor level, and there is a moulded cornice and parapet above. The rear wall has engraved brickwork that is dated 1823.
