Description
This is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It is timber-framed and has plaster walls, covered by a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The house is arranged in an "L" shape, with the main range facing northwest, comprising two bays and an archway, and a three-bay range to the rear of the right end. Each range has its own axial stack (chimney). A porch with a catslide roof is situated in the rear angle.
The main range is two storeys high, while the rear range is one storey with attics. The front of the main range has a row of late 19th-century sash windows, each with six panes. A half-glazed door is set within an 18th-century moulded doorcase, featuring a dentilled cornice supported by scrolled brackets. To the left of the main house is a cartway leading through, featuring an elliptical arch and side walls constructed of 20th-century brick, but retaining its original roof. The rear elevation of the rear range has two 20th-century casement windows, along with three dormers, two of which are swept, and one gabled. The interior was inaccessible at the time of inspection in July 1984.
