Description
Hole Farm features a barn range located to the left (south) of the track and approximately 500 metres west of Braintree Road. The barn consists of a 17th-century range on the left and a 15th-century range on the right. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, with some plaster on the rear, and has a brick plinth. The roofs are covered with red and multi-coloured pantiles; the left roof is half-hipped to the left, while the right range has a half-hipped roof with a gablet to the right. There is a hipped midstrey on the left and a gabled midstrey on the right, both featuring vertically boarded doors. The left range has two bays with through bracing in the walls and a side purlin roof. The three bays on the right are aisled, with collars for each pair of rafters and halved and bridled scarfs at the top plates. Arched braces are present on the tie beams and top plates. Viewing was limited during the re-survey as the barn is currently used for storage.
