Description
This barn, located approximately 40 metres north-west of Little's Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered and weatherboarded, with a thatched roof. The structure consists of five bays and has a midstrey facing southeast. To the left of the midstrey, there is a lean-to extension with a roof made of dark red pantiles. On the right side of the midstrey, there are two 20th-century diamond leaded windows. An inscription reading "TL 1843" is plastered above the large doors, which refers to Thomas Legerton. The main roof and the midstrey roof are both half-hipped. The main frame is constructed from long, straight oak timber, likely imported, and is jointed and pegged. It features primary straight bracing, face-halved and bladed scarfs in the top plates, and bolted knees to the tiebeams. The roof is a clasped purlin type with collars at half-bay intervals.
