Description

Crossways is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with a 19th-century shop addition. It is constructed with a timber frame and plaster render, topped with a reed thatch roof that is half-hipped, featuring an original red brick ridge stack, although the upper courses have been rebuilt. The building has a three-bay plan oriented with its end facing the road and consists of one storey and an attic. It includes two gable dormers, two horizontal sliding panes, and a boarded door. A bread oven projects from the rear wall. The 19th-century lean-to addition at the road end was originally a butcher's shop.
