Description
The Green Man Public House is a building with origins in the 17th century, with 19th-century alterations. It features a timber-framed structure that is rendered and painted brick, topped with tiled roofs and shaped bargeboarding at the ends, along with a 19th-century grey brick ridge stack. The building consists of a main range and crosswings, standing one storey with an attic above the hall. The dormer and window openings are primarily from the 19th or 20th centuries, although the doorway may be located where the original entrance was at the lower end of the hall. In the 19th century, the crosswings were extended towards the road, encased in brick, and a verandah was added along the front. The rear walls contain late 17th-century or early 18th-century red-brick. Inside, the left-hand crosswing has stop-chamfered main beams, while the hearths have been rebuilt and framing has been applied.
