Description

The Limes is a house dating from the mid 17th century, with early 19th century windows and extensions. It has a timber frame that is plaster rendered, topped with a steeply pitched tiled roof and features a grey gault brick ridge stack and an end stack. The building has a single range plan consisting of three bays.

On the first floor, there are three early 19th century hung sash windows, each with sixteen panes, positioned with their heads flush against the eaves. The ground floor has three similar windows and a doorway in the center bay, which features a reeded doorcase adorned with jewelled boss enrichment. The back door is an original feature from the early 17th century.

To the left of the main house is an early 19th century service outbuilding made of local gault brick, which has a tiled roof. At the rear, there is also a single-storey outbuilding. Inside, the house includes a sealed inglenook hearth in the center room, with a mantel supported by small caryatids. The lintel of the hearth exhibits the same stop chamfer as the main beam.
