Description

College Farmhouse is a house, originally a farmhouse, dating to circa 1600, with alterations made in the early 18th century. The house is timber-framed and plastered, with painted 18th-century soft red brick and local 17th-century brick facings. It has plain tile roofs. The building is two storeys high, with a further storey and attic, arranged in an L-shape. A parlour in the angle was rebuilt in the 18th century, possibly to accommodate visiting clergy. A late 19th-century gabled porch was added to the lobby entry position. The windows include two 20-pane hung sash windows, one 19th-century three-light hung sash window to the right, and two twelve-pane hung sash windows on the first floor. A rebuilt 17th-century ridge stack and a right-hand end stack feature tumbled parapet gables. The interior contains a staircase from circa 1730, and chimney pieces, one of which includes Delft tiles.
