Description
The Firs is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of local 18th-century red brick and features plain tile roofs. The building is two storeys high and consists of five bays, following an original hall and parlour plan with a rear kitchen wing. In the 19th century, it was altered to include a staircase hall. Architectural details include a plat band and plinth, a dentil brick eaves cornice, and tumbled parapet gables with end stacks. The house has five first-floor and four ground-floor sixteen-paned hung sash windows set in cambered brick arches. The central entrance features a recessed half-glazed, four-panelled door.
