Description

TL 4239 HEYDON CHISHILL ROAD (East Side) 23/144 No. 69 GV II Farmhouse now a house. Early C18. Timber-framed and plastered with plain tiled half hipped roof. Two rectangular planned red brick ridge stacks. Two storeys and attics with C20 rear outshut replacing former stair turret. Four unit plan. Main entrance to right hand with wooden shouldered architrave and console brackets supporting a pediment with dentil enrichment; six, raised-and fielded-panelled door. Four ground floor C20 casement windows with glazing bars and four similar first floor windows with one single light window. Three hipped dormer windows. Interior: Exposed floor frames and timber frame; central partition between inner rooms removed at ground floor, modern staircase from outshut; attic stair beside main hearth. Three hearths, baking oven and niches to main hearth and Adam style chimney piece to south room. The building was divided into two cottages in C19.
