Description
No. 1 Stanah Lane is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house. It dates from the mid-17th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building features painted roughcast walls and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof, which includes roughcast chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and consists of four bays.
The entrance is through a 17th-century studded plank door, which is sheltered by a gabled stone porch that has side seats. To the left of the main door, there is a plain opening with a later 20th-century door. The windows display a mix of Yorkshire sashes, sashes, and casement windows, some of which have glazing bars. At the rear, there is a semicircular stair projection. Inside, the ground floor has beamed ceilings, one of which features a firebeam. There is an adjoining former byre to the left that has been converted into a cottage, but it is not considered of interest.
