Description

Mackshill Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located on the north side of Bourn Caxxton Road. It is constructed with a timber-frame and rough cast render, with a thatched roof. A rebuilt gault brick ridge stack is present. The original plan comprised three units, with a single-storey gabled extension to the west, possibly used as a dairy. A modern, weatherboarded gabled porch with a boarded door now provides access. The cottage has three 20th-century three-light casement windows and one casement dormer window. Inside, the interior features a large inglenook hearth, chamfered ceiling beams, and 19th-century boxed staircases.
