Description

The Manor House at Meldreth Manor School, dating from the late 17th century, is now divided into two dwellings. It is constructed of red brick with timber-framed gables on the west side. The house features tiled gabled roofs with rebuilt gable end parapets and kneelers at the front. There is a large stack with four flues, which has been partially rebuilt, along with two side stacks, one of which has rebuilt diagonally set shafts in the west crosswing. The building is designed in an H-plan and has two storeys and an attic. The central range has late 20th-century openings, while each crosswing has three windows at the front, with original window openings on the attic and ground floor. The doorways have been relocated.

Inside, there are three 17th-century fireplaces. One in the central room features a four-centred chamfered arch leading to an inglenook. Another similar but smaller fireplace surround is located in a room in the west wing, while another ground floor room in the same wing has an inglenook with a stop-chamfered lintel. Some framing is exposed in the partition walls, although some of it has been inserted. The roof is constructed with side purlins.
