MELDRETH MANOR ROAD TL 3746 (South Side) 22/229 Manor House at Meldreth Manor School II

Manor House now two dwellings. Late C17. Red brick with timber framed west gables. Tiled gabled roofs with rebuilt gable end parapets and kneelers to the front. Large shafted stack of four flues, part rebuilt. Two side stacks, one with rebuilt diagonally set shafts to west crosswing. H-plan. Two storeys and attic. The openings to centre range are all late C20. Each crosswing has at the front three windows. The attic and ground floor window openings are original. The doorways have been resited. Inside: There are three C17 fireplaces. One to the centre room has a four centred chamfered arch to an inglenook. Another similar but smaller fireplace surround is in a room in the west wing. Another ground floor in the same wing has an inglenook with stop chamfered lintel. There is some framing exposed in the partition walls, some of which has been inserted. The roof is of side purlin construction.
