Description
Willow Way Cottages are a row of cottages that have been converted into two dwellings. They date from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with an early 19th-century extension. The cottages are timber-framed, plaster rendered, and topped with a long straw thatch roof. There is a ridge stack made of red brick and two later grey brick stacks, likely from the 17th century. The cottages face the road and are one storey high with an attic, featuring six dormers and small pane casements from the mid to late 20th century. There are two doorways, one of which leads into a modern brick porch that serves the original lobby entry. The early 19th-century extension at the end is probably made of clunch and is thatched. Inside, there are inglenook fireplaces and a 19th-century corner hearth. The original cottage had a three-bay layout with a lobby entry, and in the early 19th century, it was extended away from the road and divided into five tenements.
