Description
No. 33 North End is a house dating from the early 16th century. It is timber framed, rendered, and has a steeply pitched tiled roof with a ridge stack and an end stack. The building has a single range plan, which was enlarged by a rear wing added in 1984. It is one storey with an attic, featuring a jettied first floor at the north end and on the front wall, supported by a dragon beam at the corner. The ends of the jetty joists and the brackets were removed when the front was cased in yellow brick in the 19th century, although this casing has now been removed. The house has three dormers and three casement windows on the ground floor, with a doorway now located in the rear wall. Within the property’s grounds is a 19th-century stable built of clay bat.
